Me, as drawn by one of my instructors

Like most other artists, I began drawing at an early age. I would sit for hours and copy characters from the Sunday comics (Family Circus and Peanuts were my favorites) and my Disney readers.

When I was about 16 I took my first “real” art class. The instructor told me he thoughtI was talented. That single comment started me on avery long journey that finally culminated in my attending The Academy of Art College where I graduated in 2005 with a BFA in Animation.

Despite the word “animation” on my degree, I am actually an illustrator. My primary focus children’s book illustration but I also have an interest in fantasy illustration, advertising art and comic books.

There are many artists I admire including William Bougerau, Alphonse Mucha, and Frank Frazetta, as well as several of my fellow students at the academy.

Outside of art I have a passion for cooking, reading (mostly historical fiction and sci-fi) and video games which was my original major at the academy.

I am currently freelancing and continuing to improve my skills. I am also in the process of writing and illustrating my own children’s book.
